Solveig Ironeyes

The Basics

Full Name: Solveig Ironeyes (sole-vay)
Age: 35
Gender/Pronouns: she/her/female

Ethnicity: SL
Birthplace: Odense, Glacia
Current Location: Reric, Glacia
Profession: Ruler

Caste: Queen
Birthright Jewel: Green (CUT #97)
Offering Jewel: Grey (CUT 24)

Face Claim: Hannah Waites

The Body

Height: 6'
Body Type: a body
Hair Color: Gray
Eye Color: Silver-blue

Appearance:
Old before her time, Solveig's once red hair has turned grey though she is only half way through her thirties. By her late twenties it was quite obvious that she would soon lose all the luster in her hair. If it changed to match her Jewel of rank, or to reflect the cool color of her eyes is anyone's guess. Perhaps it was simple genetics, or the strain of keeping the Glacian farming communities healthy.

While kept lean by Jewel and Caste craftwork, Solveig is not delicate in appearance or ability. Her body is strong and capable. And tall. She is an imposing woman of straight posture and gleaming eye. Irises a nearly white-blue, they look more like polished iron than gems. Solveig Ironeyes. Her gaze is certainly a steely one. A jaw stronger than seen on most women, enhancing prominent features, and skin still smooth despite the lack of color in her hair. Hair which she still does not cut, except to trim.

The Mind

Craft Strengths: 15pts
Queen's Gift
Reading the Land
Blood Bonds
Craft Weaknesses: Calming Touch. Solveig is not overly affectionate in a physical sense.

Personal Strengths:
Personal Weaknesses:

Personality:
Solveig Ironeyes is a diligent worker. No detail escapes her notice, from the small to the big. She likes things just so. Early to rise and late to bed, she cannot leave a task half finished. A precarious woman to serve, she leaves no part in the care of her people untouched. If she could, Solveig would do it all herself, to be sure it is done to exacting standards. And to know, exactly, what is happening where and why. The only duties within her court she does not meddle in are escort duties. Even the housekeeping is not above her encroachment.

While not necessarily tense, Solveig could definitely be described as uptight. The passion she displays for her work does not seem to branch out to any other interests. Solveig has no hobbies that are not related to her Queen craft and the duties of her stewardship. Relaxing for her is a vigorous walk through the farms or hot chocolate while reading reports. Her humor is so dry it has gone brittle in death. She does what she can to maintain her strength for her people, but Solveig is not above working herself to the bone.

A stony woman. Ironeyes they call her, not just for their hue. It is not in her to pet and coddle her people into submission. Solveig uses Protocol and sheer will. Meeting temper not with kindness, but with a wall. An unmovable wall. Try as she might as an apprentice, such craft was outside the realm of her ability. To pet feels unnatural to her, and she could draw up no craft to make it soothing to the recipient. Protocol, laws and stubbornness have done her well enough this far. And a reliance on the strength of her Jewels to shield what she cannot stop.

The Backstory

Family:
  • Margrethe | Mother | Summer-sky to Opal Healer
  • Unknown | Father | Yellow to Summer-sky Warlord
  • Pater | Grandfather | Tiger Eye to Rose Warlord

History:
AW67
Solveig was born to a tjener woman who sold herself into servitude to pay off her father's debts after he was crippled in a whaling accident. Margrethe's sacrifice allowed her ailing father to live the rest of his days in peace. Solveig's father was of no consequence. Just a man with a need for a tumble, and Margrethe was a stupid girl who harbored seed stronger than any brew.

AW77
Solveig would prove more blessing than curse. A Green for her Birthright. Dark Jeweled and a Queen. Magrethe's debts were forgiven. The remained of her service forgotten. She was celebrated. Washed, groomed and dressed as a woman who produces such offspring ought to be. mNay men tried to claim Solveig as their seed as well, but Magrethe listed no man for paternity, not wanting to share in the glory.

AW84
The glory never seemed to quite reach Solveig, or effect her. She bore no airs, nor thought herself above even the most menial task. She'd been a good student of general studies, and was a frightened apprentice queen. Outpacing her tutors in willingness until they were all quite exasperated. Solveig had no patience. No concept of rest. Responsibility she understood, but she was not quite so good at delegation. And she struggled with the ideas of decorum. Queen's did not scrub banisters when their shine was not up to standards.

AW86
Paska. Solveig, as usual, gives out no trinkets. She has no preferred males. Her blood is stirred by the dancing, but her hands are not. She cannot quite seem to bridge the gap between wanting and taking. Until someone adds Night of Fire to the wine. Or wine to the Night of Fire. She has never once cut her red hair, not even to trim the ragged edges, but Solveig lays with a man on the worst of nights. Ill luck indeed. Solveig's inner web emerges in tact, but the man is not so lucky, broken back to his Birthright by her Green.

AW87
To make amends for her poor choices, Solveig waits out the urges of her blood, the call to make her Offering. Waits until the sky is alight with Jewels. Many step aside to allow the apprentice queen to meet with the priestess. A full descent, despite her misdeeds. Her Green replaced with a Grey. It seems strange to be rewarded for her misdeeds, but Solveig will put the Grey to good use in service to Glacia.

AW89
Two more years of apprenticeship in Odense. Solveig is a woman grown now. The age of majority. She is not certain she is ready, but there is little left to teach her. What she needs now is practical experience. With such a strong bond to the land, she is sent to Reric. She apprentices under the ruling queen there for three more years before taking over in truth. And in Reric Solveig has ruled for the last ten years. Slowly making the city her home and the land her mirror.
