Tempest

The Basics

Full Name: Tempest
Age: 25
Gender/Pronouns: Buck He/Him

Ethnicity: Cervini
Birthplace: DaM
Current Location: DaM
Profession: hunter & future consort

Caste: Warlord Priest
Birthright Jewel: Sapphire (CUT 29)

Face Claim: Samuel Trepanier

The Body

Height: 6'
Body Type: Predatory
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown

Appearance:
A storm over dark water. Glints of blue lightning revealing inky blackness as clouds. That is often the only vision of Tempest one has. A man of the wilds and warrior against the wolfmen he cannot afford to be less than warlike. Behind the blade and blunt force of his Jewel is a simple man, however. No magnificent caste or rack to recommend him. Just a man that shaves each morning to find his face grizzled by growth again in the afternoon. Attractive without calling attention to himself. Unless he desires it.

In body he is strong. Fighting fit and well aware of his faults and limits. He walks and gestures and laughs with the same easy surety as he battles. He wears the scars of many near misses. Tooth and arrow marks marring his chest, back and arms. The antlers on his head are simple. Resting just above his skull, not very wide, nor very high. Points bending towards one another so that at the right angle they make the shape of a heart.

The Mind

Craft Strengths: 15pts

Guidance Craft
Physical Shields
Edge Walker
Craft Weaknesses: Psychic craft

Personality:
Constant war teaches a man to smile at every opportunity. To love as deeply and purely as a heart can reach. To give and accept forgiveness because the chance might not come again. For a warlord with a violent name Tempest is surprisingly docile. Not like the dog that sleeps beside the hunters fire, but like the center of a storm. A poignant waiting. Always sure the next fight is on the horizon. And ready to see it through.

He is a natural leader that guides by example. Morally upright to the best of his abilities. A little awkward with outsiders, women especially since there were only two in his herd growing up. He embraces that side of himself too, finding that a little honesty goes a long way with those that might otherwise laugh at him. They'll probably still laugh, but they'll blush with him too. And eat up his compliments all the more.

When his temper is stirred he lives up to his name. Violence with a clearly defined path. Visiting grief, and often death, on the source of his rage. Boiling over until he burns himself out. There is a deep rooted frustration in his heart that makes his temper shorter than some, but his violence is so direct he's never felt bothered to learn control. Why when he's only ever hurt his intended target?

The Backstory

Family:
  • Root | Father | Purple Dusk to Green Prince - deceased
  • Pride | Mother | White to Tiger Eye witch- deceased
  • Reed | Brother | Red to Gray Healer Prince
  • Allen | Brother | Summer-sky to Opal warlord- deceased

History:
Mother and Aunt Sage were the center of the universe. Everyone in the small herd knew it to be true. Struggling unit, sixteen bodies strong when Tempest was born. Name granted for the gale he was delivered in the midst of. Family heaving a collective sigh of disappointment. A third boy. That was the last thing they needed. Not that he would ever experience a lack of love. Or be less than useful.

Theirs was a banished clan. No one could remember why any more, but the herd had turned nomadic centuries before. Always moving. And always at war with the An Corinthe. Hunted in particular by a band of them, perhaps the why of it would have told them why they were banished too. those long lived bastards might have been the very same the fight had started against. But stopping to ask wasn't really an option. At night they fought until dawn. At dawn the survivors moved on. A slow and painful way of living as cousins and a brother were dragged from their beds.

Until they met the lake herd. They had houses and numbers. An offer to take them in was made, and for three years it lasted. Time enough for young Tempest to make a Birthright. Learn the basics of his unique caste. And to meet her. The her. He knew at six years old she would be his some day. Little blonde doe with mischief in her eyes. He became her shadow. A constant playmate. Beaten off with a stick by her menfolk when he tried to rage his way into sleeping in her bedroom. Fingers nicked with his blunt hunting knife the day he turned nine, so he could taste her potent blood and let her have a few drops of his own. Blood oath made but unneeded, because the drum of her heart already beat in his own.

Three years was long enough, though. No more. Nightly attacks on their innocent children, just to shelter a dying herd? Once again they found themselves banished. And Tempest had to be a man. Training hard by day and taking his turn at the night watch. Ushering two cousins through a hasty Offering ceremony before he had even made his own. Sapphire dwarfing everyone else in the herd. Garnering him a roll he wasn't quite prepared for. Eventually he grew to fit. Protector of his people, shielding them while they slept. Still, the wolves found moments to slip in. After that first year back roaming their number had dwindled to thirteen. At ten Tempest made his fifth kill. Wolfmen on the end of a spear bigger than he was tall.

When Tempest was fifteen Aunt Polly became the lone center of the world. Mother caught washing the laundry. Her two surviving sons mourned by sleeping outside of the herd's shield. Taking down as many of their enemies as they could until the sun rose on a fresh day. The pain less, and their stalkers too. Time wore on and their attacks were less frequent. Days apart instead of nightly. But the herd was also weaker. A group of hunted men that tried to part ways but found they were only easier to pick off. When they came together again only Eight remained.

And its been that way since. Moving by day. Fighting when the beasts prowl over. Forsaken by the trouble they bring on their kinfolk. No woman to take Aunt Polly's place when she died birthing her sixth son. Just Tempest standing guard on small cousins. None knowing why they deserved to die. But slowly dying nonetheless.
