Reality Bites Me

Waking up that morning Jakob had to drag himself out of bed. He had gotten off early yesterday but today was going to be a long day, his boss had promised a boat for tomorrow so they would all be working until it got done. He got up quickly and quietly, not bothering to shower before getting dressed. He walked quietly down the hall, pausing only to look into Josieís room. A smile tugged at his lips as his eyes fell upon her, there was no denying that his sister was beautiful but it was something he tried not to think about. She looked peaceful and he hoped that her night had gone well. Jakob always tried to stay up to make sure she got home but circumstances had made that not possible last night. Closing her door slightly Jakob continued towards the kitchen grabbing a bite to eat before leaving the house. They didnít have a lot but the house they shared was perfect in his opinion and being free from their father was the most important thing.

As Jakob has assumed the work day was long. Everyone was working their hardest to get this boat done, but everything had to be done in steps so they had to wait for one crew to be finished before it went to the next. By the time they had finally finished the sun had left the sky and everyone was worn out. Thankfully their boss had given them all the next day off, but Jakob suspected that he did that so he didnít have to hear about them complaining instead of doing it because he cared about them. Grabbing his things Jakob left without a second glance back, he had had enough of this day and he wanted to get home. Even though it had only been a day since he had talked to Josie he still missed his sister and he wanted to make sure she was ok. Her safety and well being had always been more important than his.

Jakob knew that it would still be a while before his sister got home so he took his time getting home. He wandered down a few streets he didnít normally go down, which worked out in his favour. Down one of the streets he noticed a bakery that was still open and had quite a collection of sweets. Jakob made his way into the store looking around before he eyes fell upon a small tray of fresh fruits, some covered in chocolate. A smile barely touched his lips as he purchased the tray and headed home, this would be what they both needed after the past few days.

When he arrived home Jakob put the fruit tray in a cool box before striping his clothes off and hoping into the shower, after the day he had he could not wait to clean himself off. As the cool water rushed over him Jakob felt refreshed, all the grime and sweat from the day washing away. When he finally felt clean enough he stepped out of the shower and went back to his room throwing on a pair of pants before heading back back to their living room to wait for Josie.

After what seemed like a long time he finally sensed her and shortly after heard the door open. Slowly he got up and made his way towards her. He kept his distance, knowing that she had probably had enough men for a minute, but he moved a chair for her to sit down on before grabbing the fruit tray. ďI found these on my way home. I figured we could both use a treat.Ē As much as he wanted to ask about her day, he refrained. He didnít really want to hear about other men and his sister. But he watched her face for any sign that may indicate that it had been a bad day. The older they both got the harder it was for him to deny or ignore that his sister was growing into a beautiful woman.

It was not unusual for Josephine to sleep in a little bit, considering her hours were not exactly standard. She didnít need to wake up with the sun and head off to work like so many others but instead her hours start more around lunchtime and go much later into the night. Her brother was one of the people that had to shuffle off early, which certainly made spending time together a bit more difficult simply because their schedules didnít match up. They made the effort to find time together though, even if it was just an hour here or a few stolen moments there. Jakob was always a bright spot in her day after all and that was not something she was willing to lose. More often than not though, he was likely the one that made more of a sacrifice there simply because he would often stay up later to see her when she returned home from work and she was rarely able to pull herself out of bed early enough to see him off. She simply wasnít a morning person... which was why Josie was still sprawled out across her bed soundly sleeping when he left. She had absolutely no idea that he peeked in before leaving or any knowledge whether that was something he did regularly as she was never awake to see it.

When her eyes finally fluttered open, the sun was steadily streaming into her room from beyond the drawn blinds and it took everything in her to fight the urge to cover her head with a pillow and drift back into the deep slumber she had just left behind. That sounded like a much better idea than getting ready for work... especially since her job was not one that Josie actually enjoyed. There were women that she worked with that had chosen the life of a whore because they truly enjoyed it but that was certainly not the case with her. When they had left home at such a young age, Josie didnít exactly have many options. She was mostly without skills other than being able to keep the house clean as it had meant she was less likely to be on the receiving end of her fatherís anger if she did. So that in combination with the one other thing she did have, her looks, was what had led her to seek a job in the Red Moon House in the first place. From the start she hated it... hated the way the men leered at her before she was old enough to actually make the transition from a maid to a whore... hated the way they pawed at her... hated the fact that she needed to be intimate with enough people that sheíd lost count simply to help make sure they could keep a roof over their head and food on the table when she couldnít even bring herself to tell the person she actually cared about how she felt about them.

Life was unfair though and that was a lesson the Darkness had taught her early on. She did what she had to because there was no other option. Just like she doubted Jakob truly wanted to do what he did for the rest of his life considering the fact that he could do so much more as far as she was concerned. It didnít take her long to get ready for work, considering the fact that she did most of her getting ready on site, but before leaving she did make a stop into Jakobís room to grab one of his shirts out of his closet. It wasnít something she did often without asking, but considering they hadnít actually seen each other the night before, Josie didnít think she would be able to make it through her day without having some sort of connection to him. It only took a moment to vanish it and then she was off to work.

The hours seemed to tick by slowly but as soon as her last client was out the door, Josie instantly jumped in the shower to try and scrub the day away before returning home. When that was done, she towel-dried her hair and threw it up into a quick ponytail before pulling on a simple pair of pants and her brotherís shirt, breathing in his scent and feeling far more relaxed than she had since waking up that morning. The journey home seemed so much quicker as she hurried down the street towards the small home the twins shared. It was no surprise to see that her brother was prepping a chair for her upon entering the space, but it was however a surprise to see what he held in his hands. Her eyes got instantly wide at the sight of the pieces of fresh fruit almost as if he had been holding a tray of the finest jewels in the world. In a sense, that wasnít that far off though as Josie didnít allow herself to spend money on things like that when there were more important matters to spend it on but to her, the fruit was even better than any other type of sweet he could have possibly picked up.

The smile that appeared on her lips clearly showed that she approved of the treat and the sentiment that they could both likely use a treat and she hadnít even fully settled into the chair before she was reaching to pluck a chocolate dipped strawberry off of the tray. "You are the best brother ever... have I told you that lately? Did you have a long day?" she inquired before biting down on the strawberry as she awaited his answer. Something clearly spurred him to purchase the treat after all so she could only hope that nothing had happened at work.

Jakob smiled as Josie took a strawberry before sitting down. He had known his sister would enjoy the treat but seeing her expression just added to everything. Grabbing a strawberry for himself Jakob sat down in the chair beside hers, pushing the tray towards her. Although he did enjoy them, he had really gotten them for her so he wasnít going to have too many.

The smile still wide on his face Jakob looked at his sister, assessing her. He knew her job wore on her and he always wanted to make sure she was ok. He didnít know all if her reasons for why she did what she did, but if she ever decided to change jobs he would be there to support her, and he really hoped she knew that. ĒDoes a brother need a reason to spoil his sister? He wasnít about to tell his sister that the he had missed her, it had been just over a day since they had last talked to each other, which although rare did not seem like a long enough time to miss they other. And truthfully, Jakob almost felt bad that he had missed her last night. He knew the Josie was not an early riser and he never once expected her to wake up before he left, but he had gotten use to staying up late to see her so he didnít mind losing out on sleep. He could after all sleep when he was dead.

ĒSince we all went in early this morning we managed to get the boat done and as a thanks our boss gave us tomorrow off, so I decided we could spoil ourselves.Ē He smiled slightly, watching for her reaction. Money was never anything they could spend freely and Jakob would make sure to take this out of his own private funds that he was slowly building up just in case. Their father had never good to either of them and Jakob wanted to have enough saved away in case he ever found them and they needed to run.

Suddenly realized what Josie was wearing, Jakob tilted his head slightly before smiling slightly and shaking his head. He had thought he recognized the shirt but it had just clicked in that it was HIS shirt. ĒIs that my shirt?Ē he already knew the answer but he was curious as to why she had taken it. ĒHave your turned into a closet thief now?Ē He smirked slightly, not caring at all that she had taken it. He trusted Josie more than anyone else so he assumed it was an innocent reason, like running out of clothes or something.

It didnít take long for the strawberry that she had selected to disappear and Josieís fingers quickly reached for another sweet treat from the tray without even really thinking about it. Upon hearing Jakobís question though, she had to fight the urge to respond with yes. She loved that he felt like he wanted to spoil her by getting something like this, but she knew that it had likely been expensive and it was hard to just enjoy it instead of worrying about that. Sure they had more money now than when they first ran away from their father, but that hadnít changed the fact that she worried about money or what might happen should they be found. She was good at her job though and certainly made enough to prove that and Jakob had a steady job as well. They didnít live in the lap of luxury, but it wasnít something she needed or wanted any way. If she did, then she would take one of the men up on their offers to put her in a nice place as long as she agreed to be their mistress or whatever. All she wanted was to continue living with her twin though and everything else was just extra as far as she was concerned. He was all she needed.

Hearing the rest of the reason though, Josie certainly felt a little bit better about it. It was so rare that her brother had a day off and it was entirely selfish of her to be happy about the fact that it meant he could stay up later that evening and spend more time with her considering he didnít have any need to wake up early the following morning. "Thatís awfully nice of your boss," she replied as she popped another grape into her mouth. It was only then that she realized that she had been eating a majority of the fruit and that her brother had barely touched it. If he truly wanted to spoil the both of them, then he certainly needed to eat more of it as well. Her fingers deftly plucked another piece of fruit off of the tray before she nudged it back towards him in the hopes that he would choose at least a few more pieces otherwise she wouldnít be able to properly enjoy it.

When he realized what she was wearing and the fact that it had been taken from his closet without her actually asking, Josie couldnít help but look at least a little bit sheepish. "It is... I borrowed it," she responded when he first commented on her wearing his shirt. When he asked if she was turning into a closet thief though, she had to decide whether or not that was a question she could actually answer. She didnít enjoy lying to her brother about anything but she couldnít exactly tell him that she wanted to have his scent near to her after a long day at work. That was just a little more truth than she was willing to share at the moment. "Not really... I just missed you." It was a small thing to admit and didnít really give away how she felt about him as it wouldnít be unusual for one twin to miss the other if they went without seeing each other right?

Jakob couldnít help but roll his eyes at her comment on his boss. Sure the man could be nice but everyone who worked there knew he was only doing it so no one complained and so they they could rest a day before he pushed them ever harder. ĒHe did it to cover his ass.Ē He shrugged slightly, his boss may not have been the best but complaining about it did little so he normally just avoided the topic entirely. Grabbing another strawberry from the tray Jakob took a bite out of it, hoping to end all conversation about his boss.

As Josie explained why he was in his shirt Jakob tried not to smile. He didnít mind her stealing his clothes, not in the slightest, and the fact that she had missed him made him feel loved. It seemed as though they could not be without one another, but he did wonder what they meant for the future. At some point he hoped that she would find a man or woman that she loved and started her own family. But it was something he tried not to think about, as that would mean she would leave him, and that wasnít something he was prepared for yet.

Not wanting to even think about it Jakob got up from his chair and moved to behind Josie, bending over from behind and giving her a hug. ĒI missed you too JosieĒ. A hug like this was innocent enough, not that they were never affectionate towards each other but seeing his sister in his shirt did something to him and made him feel things he wasnít ready to admit or even think about. What he felt was bordering on wrong and he knew he had to be careful around her when those thoughts surfaced. The last thing he needed was Josie finding out what he felt and leaving him.

As he stood back up his hands lightly train up her arms, resting on her shoulders. His hands rested there for a moment taking in the tension he felt in her muscles. He couldnít imagine how tiring her job was and what she went through each day. He never wanted or asked for specifics, but he still cared about what she went through. Slowly he started moving his hands, massaging her shoulders. "How was your day?. He didnít give her massages often, trying to limit any sort of physical contact but he felt in control and confident that he would not slip up.

It was strange, but despite everything that had happened to her over the years, Josie was still a bit of an optimist who wanted to believe that people had the best intentions even if they had so often shown her otherwise. She wanted to believe that Jakobís boss really had given them the time off to be nice as it wasnít like her brotherís job was easy, but it seemed he didnít share that sentiment. She couldnít blame him she supposed... the same thing that had caused her to hold onto the little bit of optimism she had so tightly probably caused him to have a rather jaded view of things. Perhaps he was right to feel that way too considering the only person in her life that had never disappointed her was Jakob.

When he stood and wrapped his arms around her, Josie couldnít help but relax back against him. She knew that she shouldnít, that she should keep some of the walls up that she had built simply to keep her feelings locked up tight, but the moment they wrapped around her she just couldnít keep herself from doing it... especially when she heard him say that he had missed her too. Those words probably meant nothing to him, other than simply missing his sister because they had gone longer than normal being by each other, but they meant so much to her. They somehow reminded her that he wasnít going anywhere in the near future and that was something she needed. The idea that Jakob would someday find someone more important to him than she was hurt more than Josie would ever admit so as long as he continued missing her when they didnít see each other for a day, she didnít have to worry about him moving on.

She didnít want the hug to end though, so when he started to move his hands up her arms Josie had to fight the urge to latch onto them so that the hug could continue. She hadnít expected them to go to her shoulders though or to start working away at the tension that had gathered in the muscles there as it didnít happen often, which was why the contented sound left her lips before she could stop it. She couldnít help it though... the way his fingers worked at the tension just felt so good. "Mmmm..." Her eyes fluttered shut as the sound escaped again and she almost missed his question in her bliss... She knew that she should stop him before she did or said something she couldnít take back, but she just didnít want to. Even if she didnít, the memory of the way his hands moved would just haunt her thoughts until she had completely tortured herself with it.

"It was fine," she said when his words finally registered and it wasnít really a lie. Nothing had gone wrong nor was it any different than her day normally went so fine certainly summed it up. Josie really didnít like talking details about her day with her brother though, unless something really bad had happened, simply because she didnít like the idea of talking to him about the men sheíd slept with that afternoon or the way they treated her or leered at her. It just wasnít a topic of conversation that was high on her list.

As Josie reacted to the massage, Jakob almost withdrew his hands. Although he was happy that he was removing the tension, the small noises she made were almost too much for him. But as hard as it was for him to deal with it, part of him enjoyed hearing that from her. If this was the only small amount of physical pleasure he could give her, he would revel in it.

Despite his question about her, Jakob was glad that she didnít go in detail. If she had had a horrible day, he would have wanted to know, and he would have done what he could do to improve her day, but he didnít need or want details. Josie had never given him any details either, and Jakob was grateful for that. He would never know what it was like where she worked, and he didnít want to, but he would never know exactly how she felt when she came home. He was just glad that they had gotten rid of their father, so at least the environment she came back to was better, and he wouldnít put words in her mouth, but he hoped she was happy to come home now.

Continuing his massage, Jakobís hands moved towards the nape of her neck, paying attention to the muscles and skin beneath his hands, but partially forgetting that it was his sister. After a few minutes Jakob stopped moving his hands,, she seemed a lot more relaxed, and Jakob could feel his hands starting to get a little sweaty and warm, something he didnít want Josie to notice. His hands rested only a moment on her shoulders, before squeezing them gently, and withdrawing them. He wiped them on his towel, before moving back to the chair beside her. ĒAre you going to go to bed now? Or are you staying up for a while yet?Ē. He didnít often stay up very long with her, but having the day off tomorrow meant that he didnít have to be asleep by any certain time so he could spend more time with him.

ĒIf youíre going to stay awake, Iím just going to go change.Ē he smiled slightly, he was comfortable in his own skin, for the most part. The scar along his side still made him self conscious, Josie was probably the only person who ever saw him without a shirt, he also hated looking at it and being reminded of his father

As good as his fingers felt as they worked out the knots in her shoulders, it left Josie at war with herself. It was easy to forget that she shouldnít feel the way she did when and that his touch shouldnít give her goosebumps or make her heart race when he was massaging her shoulders in the manner that he was. She couldnít forget that though, not ever... The thought of what might happen if she ever did was enough to get her to stop it but before she could, Jakobís fingers moved towards that hard to get spot on her neck and pulled another contented sound from her as the mental war began once again.

When he did finally stop, he did so on his own and not because she had stopped it... even though she knew she should have. Josie was at least strong enough to keep the whimper from coming out when he pulled his hands back because even though she knew she shouldnít... Josie really wanted him to keep going. It was easier to think once some distance was between them again though and that was something she needed if she were going to stay in control like she needed to be. He could never find out how she felt about him, so control was the only thing she had to keep that from happening. It was just so much harder to do that when his hands were trailing over her skin...

"Iíll be staying up for a bit," she responded when he asked, considering she normally did. After all, she had to relax a little bit after her day to even get to the point where sheíd be able to sleep. The fact that Jakob was going to stay up and spend a little bit of that time with her because he didnít have to work tomorrow only made it all the better. This was a treat after all, so there was no way she would have gone to bed even if that had been her plan initially. "I have to change too so meet back here soon?" She waited just long enough for her brother to agree before heading off towards her room and leaning against the door that she had just closed behind her, trying to get the memory of her brotherís hands out of her mind.

She really did need to change, but this also gave her a few minutes to compose herself again before heading back out. There was no way he could know what he was doing to her after all so she needed to be better about not letting it get to her like it had. Once she was ready to face her brother again, Josie quickly changed into something a bit more comfortable. It wasnít unusual for her to change into some comfy pjs after work after all, she just normally waited until Jakob went to sleep to do it so she didnít lose time with him. Opting to leave his shirt on because it was comfortable and because she seemed to like torturing herself by keeping his scent so close to her, but she slid out of the pants she was wearing and replaced them with an incredibly soft pair of shorts that were just barely longer than where the hem of his shirt fell. It probably would have been smarter to change the shirt as well, considering how sheíd been struggling with her control as it was... but she just couldnít bring herself to do it.

Once she was changed, Josie made her way back out into the small common space in their house. It seemed Jakob wasnít quite finished though as he was still in his room, so she settled herself down upon the couch, pulling her legs up to her chest as she got a bit more comfortable.

The sounds Josie had made were almost enough to break all the walls that he had put up to stop himself from saying or doing something that he would regret. So as Josie asked him her question all he could do was nod and watch as she left the room. Letting out a sigh Jakob slowly made his room closing the door as lightly as he could, despite the fact that he felt like punching something. He had to keep his emotions in control, there was no other option of he wanted to stay in Josieís life.

Turning away from the door Jakob sat down on his bed running his fingers through his hair. He needed to get control over himself, he had not worked so hard for so long to let it come to an end so soon. Collecting himself his got up from his bed throwing on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. He was glad that he had the next day off, not only because it meant he had longer with Josie but because he could finally get some things done around their home. Most of his waking time was spent working or with Josie, so maybe he would be able to have another surprise for her tomorrow.

Feeling fairly confident that he had composed himself Jakob opened the door to his room before heading out to their main room, to his surprise, saw Josie sitting there, he legs pulled up against her chest. She had chosen a rather short pair of shorts, making her legs seem even longer than normal. Seeing her like that, wearing his shirt, she was just so beautiful and Jakob was in a way dreading the day she found someone to love and left him. He had no idea if he would ever get over the feelings he had for her, he doubted it, but he didnít ever think heíd be happy once she left. Where he saw darkness she could see light and show him the brighter side to life. Shrugging his shoulders he walking into the room slowly sitting down on the couch next to her, far enough that he was not crowding her. Casually he put his arm over the top of the couch, careful to not place it too close to her. ĒI canít remember the last time I was up this lateÖ So tell me what do you nighthawks do for fun?Ē he allowed himself to smile softly at her. Despite needing to control himself around her she was still the person he was most comfortable around.

It was strange how happy just having a little bit of extra time with her brother that evening was making her, even if she knew that Jakob was likely more tired than he was letting on considering how early he had arisen that morning... unless he had taken a nap before she had returned home from work, but that just didnít seem like something her brother would do. She wasnít going to bring it up though, since she did want this extra time with him and she worried that if she mentioned how long he had been up that he might decide he was in fact too sleepy.

She had been lost in her thoughts when he returned from changing, so Josie didnít even notice that he was there until she felt the couch shift beside her, drawing her attention to her brother once more. "It has been awhile... I donít actually remember the last time you didnít have to be up super early." After all, they had been on their own and both working whatever jobs they could get for quite some time now and most of Jakobís required him to be up far earlier than she ever had to be. They also usually demanded a lot more hard labor than her job did, so she wasnít surprised that he was exhausted most nights by the time she arrived home. She missed spending time with him though, more than she would ever admit.

"I donít really do much to be honest though... normally read or just relax and let my mind wander until Iím tired enough to go to bed." As well as a lot of daydreaming about what could be if things were different but that wasnít something she could really share with him as then she would have to admit that she cared more for him than simply the way a sister loves a brother. "Definitely nothing exciting or anything," she replied with a smile. A thought than occurred to her that his muscles were likely as stiff as hers had been, if not moreso simply because of the strain that he put upon them every day. It was only fair that she returned the favor that he had graced her with when sheíd gotten home... if heíd let her. "Turn around," she said as she moved a little bit closer to him on the couch so that sheíd be able to reach his shoulders when he shifted.

Thankfully, his mind had not had time to wander to far before his sister spoke, he didn't know where they would go otherwise. He did his best to control everything, every movement, every gesture he had too around Josie. He trusted her completely, but he didn't trust himself, and he didn't want to do anything that would make Josie feel uncomfortable or make her want to leave. Josie was far too important to him and he was sure that if she knew how he really felt about her, she would pack her bags and leave, he would rather fight his own feelings for her so that he could at least see her everyday.

His smile widened slightly as she spoke "It really has been a long time. It feels weird almost." Which wasn't a lie, he was normally fast asleep by now, and he could feel himself getting more tired by the second. But spending time with Josie was important to him, and having this extra time was so rare that he wanted to make the most of the opportunity, regardless of any consequences. "Is that why you go through so many books?" he teased lightly. He moved his hand, grazing her shoulder slightly, before realizing what he was doing. He couldn't touch her like that, it wasn't right, despite how warm and soft her skin had felt. Resting his hand back on the couch once again, his smile disappeared as he tried to shift his thoughts. "It is nice though, relaxing. With my crazy schedules I feel like I don't get to relax often enough." He put in long days, after after working his body so hard by the time he got home he could collapse into his bed without a second thought, but he always stayed up, or woke up to make sure Josie got home safely. He slept better knowing she was home and okay.

As Josie asked him to turn around, Jakob looked at her confused, wondering what she wanted. But he did as she asked, moving his arm to his side and slowly turning away from her. "Are you planning to just murder me and take me out of my misery?" He smiled at the thought of his sister harming anyone. Josie, despite everything they had been through was still so sweet and gentle. She saw the good in everything, which Jakob admired. Jakob always saw the worst in everything and she always helped him see the good in life, and for that he could never repay her. "If you're going to kill me, I'd rather witness my own murder." His smile had returned now, but with his back to Josie he doubted she saw his expression. But this time with her was precious, and he wanted to enjoy it, smile and laugh. They could never be together, but this was as close as they would get, so he had to make the best of it.

Josie's nose wrinkled ever so slightly at her brother's teasing, though his words certainly held truth. She did go through books rather quickly as it often took a while for her to unwind after dealing with the things she had to at work. It wasn't something she enjoyed doing, but that didn't make her any less good at it or capable of performing her duties. It simply meant that everything stayed with her after she left and it took her longer than she would admit to her brother to shed it all so she could comfortably sleep in her own bed. She didn't need any of that stuff to invade her dreams and that was why she flipped through the pages of her books until her thoughts were clear and sleep was ready to drag her under.

"I don't go through that many books," she retorted before simply nodding her agreement with his next statement. It was especially nice tonight considering she got to share this time with him. It was part of why she wanted to repay him for what he had done for her earlier, though he seemed a bit skeptical about why she had asked him to turn around in the first place. The confusion was clear on his face but he did as she asked and once he was settled into place, her fingers found his shoulders. Before she could begin though, his words brought another smile to her lips and caused her to shake her head slightly. The idea of her taking her twin's life was absolutely absurd, but so was the fact that he would prefer to witness it if she did. "I could never kill you brother dear," she whispered in his ear before settling herself into a more comfortable position behind him and setting her fingers to work on his shoulders.

It wasn't surprising that his shoulders seemed tight, considering the hard labor he did every day for work. Perhaps this was something she needed to do more often for her brother... if he would let her. Granted, normally she tried to minimize contact like this if only for her own sanity but he certainly deserved it. As her thoughts began to wander slightly, her fingers focused on that spot where the neck and shoulders came together as it seemed to be where a lot of the tension was currently being held.

Moments like this with his sister were very few and far between, which made Jakob appreciate them even more. Of course, Jakob would have been just as happy even sitting in the same room as her, watching her read but having time to bond was even more special. It made him wish things were different. Had he and his sister grown up in a different household would they have had more time together instead of spending their days working just to get by?

Maybe it would have, but their relationship would have different. They both were who they were because of their past. Their father's abuse had brought them closer together, they had to hate together, a reason to band together. So things might have been different, but Jakob would not have changed a thing. His sister meant everything to him, and he would live through anything if it meant he could be close to her. He only wished that he could erase her scars from their childhood.

He simply shook his head as Josie tried to insist that it wasn't that many books. Jakob knew she needed something to distract her and he did do his best to bring her home books. More than anything he just wanted to give Josie everything she ever wanted and it killed him that he couldn't do that. He did his best, but it was never good enough in his opinion, Josie deserved so much more.

With his back turned to her, Jakob could feel Josie moving behind him, her whisper sending chills down his spine. What he would have done to have her in a different position in that moment. But that was wrong, she was his sister and he knew many people would think him perverted for having those thoughts about her. When her hands touched his shoulder Jakob instantly tensed. She really had never touched him like this before and he wasn't sure how he felt. Of course he loved her touch, but she had control now and it was hard for him to let go of that. But he would always do anything for Josie, and if this was what she wanted he would do it.

There was a benefit for him though, Josie's fingers were working magic on his shoulders and he could help but relax and close his eyes. He had never had a massage before, and now he didn't want Josie to stop. As her fingers moved closer to his neck Jakob opened his eyes, tensing ever so slightly. His neck was sensitive and he worried about allowing her so close to it. But he wanted to make her happy, and he highly suspected that if he pulled away now she would think she had done something wrong. He willed himself to relax, he could trust Josie and he really didn't think she would have anything but innocent thoughts in her mind.

As she finally worked away at one knot, Jakob couldn't help but let out a soft sigh. He had given her a massage, but he had never expected it to feel so good. "I worked hard for the knots Josie. What ever will I do when they return?" Part of it was a jab at his sister, but he would be lying if he said he wasn't hoping that she would agree to give him another massage.

He tensed at her touch, which made Josie hesitate for just a moment before setting her fingers to work at the knots while she tried her best not to read too much into it. This was something new after all... something she didn't normally do for him because she always tried to keep space between them if she could. It was too tempting otherwise, being this close to him and not doing all the things she wanted. It had been years since she first realized her feelings for her brother and they certainly hadn't faded in the time that had passed since... despite the efforts she had made to convince herself otherwise.

Jakob had been starting to relax into her touch though, which made her think that he had simply tensed because this was new more than anything else. She would be more than happy to work out the knots and the tension though if he needed her to. It wasn't easy to push aside the fact that being this close to him was causing her heart to race slightly or to ignore the desire to place a gentle kiss where his neck and shoulder met as she wanted to so badly right now, but she would do it for him... she'd do anything for him if he would just let her.

It was hard to miss the tension that returned as her hands moved closer to his neck, though it soon dissipated and a soft sound came out of him that made it a little bit harder to resist the urge to feather kisses across his neck. Thankfully he chose that moment to speak again, which gave her something else to concentrate on. "You only ever have to ask," she responded with a small smile. She might have avoided unnecessary contact with her brother to keep her sanity, but if he asked it of her then Josie would without hesitation.

Jakob couldn't really say exactly how much time had passed between their massages, and he didn't even care to know. He had always kept his distance from his sister, but now that they were this close, he really didn't want to have that distance between them again. But he knew he should keep the space between them, there was only so long he could control himself and he was starting to think he was reaching the end of his control.

But what would one more knot hurt right? He had to get it through his brain that Josie wasn't like him, she wouldn't be thinking such horrible things. He could get through this, he could. Josie moved her hands over to the next knot on his neck and Jakob knew that this would be all he could stand. The way her hands felt on his neck, the way she smelled, the feeling of her breath on his neck, it all lead to thoughts that he already barely had control over. As much as he hated himself for thinking it, he was starting to hope that this knot was small so that he could move away.

It took another few minutes before Josie finally got the knot removed and without a moment's pause Jakob moved away slightly before turning back to face his sister. "Thank You Josie. My neck feels a lot better now" He smiled at her, hoping she wouldn't take offense to him leaving her now. "But that massage made me tired, so I'm think I'm going to head to bed. Will you be ok?" He waited a moment for her response before getting up from the couch, and moving away, away from the temptation. Entering his room Jakob collapsed on his bed, feeling the stress of the day hit him. of course it had been made easier after spending time with Josie but now he needed sleep.
