Ianthe Sparrowhawke

The Basics

Full Name: Ianthe Sparrowhawke, or Whitewind, or Graveriver, or any number of false last names
Age: 220
Gender/Pronouns: she/hers

Ethnicity: Angnuk/Mixed
Birthplace: Kaeleer
Current Location: Kaeleer
Profession: Traveling Busibody

Caste: hearth witch
Birthright Jewel: Summer-sky (CUT 61)
Offering Jewel: Opal (CUT 26)

Face Claim: Demet Özdemir

The Body

Height: 5'4
Body Type: Narrow, wiry
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Dark Brown

Appearance:
Long dark hair and dark eyes, small build roughed out by decades of living on the road, of a diet full of valleys, stretches of weeks and months where a full belly couldn't be a priority. Maintaining her wagon and her donkey have given her lean muscle and calloused hands, and scars litter her from all sorts of travel hiccups.

She dresses sturdily, in clothing that's easy to layer and hard to rip in her travels. Boots and gloves, thick jackets and dense scarves are her regular attire. It's only when she sets up shop or goes into town that she puts up a bit of flare, of 'magician's mysticism'. She has a few carefully maintained dresses and shawls, heirloom jewelry well kept with love, that build up her persona. She's a seamstress and a hearth witch, a jack of all trades, but she doesn't like being approached at 'off hours' and tries her best not to look too much like herself. She even has dark canvas covers for her wagon that hide the decorative side paneling. When Ianthe isn't working, she does her best to look as bland and forgettable as possible.

Pressed against her breast on the left side of her narrow ribcage, like the swipe of a negligent painter, five lines of darkened skin follow the curve of her bones.

The Mind

Craft Strengths: 15pts + 5 craft bundle
Spell Weaving
Telekinetic Manipulation
Witchlight
Summoning & Vanishing
Passing Through Objects
Craft Weaknesses: Tracking Spells, Cushioning Spells

Personality:
Ianthe is as the onion: made of layers and fairly likely to make someone cry.

The first layer is the saleswoman. Made of genial smiles, gentle hands, and the attentiveness of someone looking for a foothold. A practiced hawker. The saleswoman is never angry, or rough, or bitter. The saleswoman can charm marks from a stone, a smile from the most stalwart crowd, and bring a crying child to laughter. The Saleswoman is all the good bits of manners and people handling skills wrapped up in pretty, eccentric colors and a little bit of mysticism. A paper falsehood, held together by necessity. Ianthe can't feed herself on smiles, so smiles will be of service to feeding.

Better than teeth buried in unsuspecting flesh.

The second layer is the faceted layer, the layer of many faces and equally as many names. Ianthe at the Market. Ianthe in Bast. Ianthe in Hrausla. Ianthe in Glaus. She sketches herself a new face each time she moves, always aware of the borders of her own impact in a place. She is a woman alone, after all, a woman traveling between towns to mend and earn marks and buy pies. Every slightly different Ianthe is a layer of protection, a layer of distance.

Safety for the people she leaves behind.

The heart of Ianthe is dry, tired, a spark against bundles of dry tinder. No-nonsense, straightforward, restrained. She sets her own hours, keeps her own business, her own books. Ianthe is her own responsibility, not anyone else's, and she doesn't like people invading her space or acting familiar when they're not. She's deeply defensive of herself and her person, and wraps her tender pieces in the myriad folds of placid smiles and shades of The Saleswoman. Guarded.

Protection from her shadowed half.

She craves connection at the same time as she refuses it. She will no more leave her travels than Descend again, and all the people she meets she inevitably leaves. Her life is the road, and she can't imagine anything else, but at the same time, she cherishes the little networks she makes in the circuit she frequents. She watches families grow and aches for her own, for friendships that wane with the seasons.

But Ianthe has her donkey, and her wagon, and the sleeping giant inside. The road goes on.
