Peitar

The Basics

Full Name: Peitar
Age: 279
Gender/Pronouns: Male he/him

Ethnicity: Eyrien
Birthplace: Askavi
Current Location: Askavi
Profession: raider, criminal, blind badass

Caste: Warlord Prince
Birthright Jewel: Opal(CUT 2)

The Body

Height: 6'2
Body Type: Strong
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark gold with vaguely cloudy lenses

Appearance:
Scars tell a story of war and strife across Peitar the warrior. A thick scar from hip to knee on his left leg. Palms calloused from centuries of wielding his blade. Burns from elbow to wrist on his right arm, thrown up to protect his face a moment too late. Matched by burns from the same source that cross over one eye and his hairline.

He is active and fit in spite of his blindness. Clothing chosen by others, but he rarely wears more than sturdy leather pants and boots anyway. Wings speckled with white scars reminiscent of the pale centers of his eyes. Scarred there too, on the insides. But his probes and ears are keen enough to make sure he's staring at you while you talk.

The Mind

Craft Strengths: 15pts + 5pt craft bundle from bank

Psychic Probes
Weapon Empowerment
Edge Walker
Craft Weaknesses: Shields and masking

Personality:
There was never a soft side. It didn't die in the war, it wasn't quashed in the camps. But there was a time when not being soft didn't equate to being angry all of the time. Sometimes it's hard to remember he was more than the jagged edge defense of his homeland. It must be true though, he must not have always been this way, because people talk about the man he was before.

Not a hunter. Tedious work, tracking and chasing down stupid prey. He doesn't need the justification of necessity for his violence. No, Peitar's patience is more suited to the warrior. Time spent in training for the battle then striking hard and fast.

Like many of his race Peitar is jaded. Soul wounds that he doesn't know how to heal. He is a whip that lashes out at everyone but at the whole of Dhemlan most of all. Nothing for the people of that land but hate. On the battlefield Peitar is like a cornered animal. Nothing left to lose.

And all the world is his battlefield now.

The Backstory

Family:
  • Kian | Mother | Summer Sky to broken Purple Dusk hearth witch - deceased
  • Muktar | Brother | Purple Dusk to Green warlord prince
  • Vekar | Brother | Green to Red prince - deceased
  • Xylar | Brother | child - missing

History:
It is the same story all of Askavi weeps over. A son born to a mother punished for being a strong woman. Inconsequential to the men she served in the camps. Bearing them sons that none claimed but all raised. Not the hunting camps of the past, no, but the fiercer war camps. Their part of Askavi had always warred with Dhemlan. They were, none of them, surprised that this Witch would betray her holy title.

Born to war Peitar was raised on the end of a blade instead of a kind father's knee. As the only life he knew there was nothing to long for. Nothing to resent. It was a good life for a boy with an Eyrien soul. He fought hard, but more than that he fought wisely. Took what he wanted from the other boys that squabbled over food, weapons and girls. Fought them all even harder when they were shuffled into a makeshift temple for one mass Birthright Ceremony.

There were not many things in his life worth loving. His mother, of course, and his brothers. It made him restless, all the long decades of growing before he could go and test his skills on the front lines. When the nights were clear he would fly over their encampment until he was high enough to see the embers of warfare on the far off fields of death. Scattered lights that pulsed like fireflys.

He was ready, when the day came, ready to join the real fight. Night spent on his knees reaching through the abyss for his descent. Too eager perhaps, for Mother Night to tolerate. Only the Sapphire for his trouble. That was plenty, a chorus of old soldiers promised. More than he needed to be a force of destruction.

They were right. Peitar could carve a path of bodies with his new jewel to back his blade. He was just what the wizened warriors needed. No good with shields, but that didn't matter. His job was to die getting them closer to their end goal. That was alright with the young Eyrien. Death didn't scare him! He was ready to go out swinging.

Somehow his skill and good luck outweighed that brashness. Weeks of survival turned to decades. He learned how to do things other than fight. How to sit in a bed healing for weeks. What a woman felt like with her legs wrapped around his waist pleading for more. The sharp pain of loss as a brother lost to the odds and joined The Darkness.

He was there when it happened. The luck of the draw. Made to stay behind as warriors of other nations finally swelled their ranks. A final assault, and they wanted him to mind the camp! Like a good soldier he obeyed, but by the third day of fighting there was nothing left to guard. Mother dead and baby brother gone. No time to search as a ship full of Glacians arrived. He boarded with them, outlasted them all. Reached the threshold of Witch's fortress and howled victory in her halls.

Gave his eyes to watch her die.

Maybe they could have saved his sight. If he had stayed as the quiet little healers tried to insist. But Peitar had probes and people to find. He made his way without the need of vision. A different sort of seeing done.

Returned empty handed to the place where home had once been. Without his family there it was nothing but a razed camp. So he built a cabin. And in time others came. They agreed with his growing bitterness that the war, their loss, had still not freed them from Dhemlan. It was one thing to cower under Witch, it was another to allow these curs to remain and corrupt their land.

When a few became many Peitar led the way. Blind or not, they followed. Cleared a district for themselves where no one from Dhemlan was welcome. By pain of death they would cleanse their homesteads of the scourge. In time they ran out of soldiers to fight. None were farmers and their land was too mountainous for such things. It was good for hiding though. Especially from people that couldn't fly. So they fed themselves by taking from others. Crossing the border so that they didn't have to take from their own people.

Now Peitar is a leader of men, a general with his own small army. He doesn't know what he'll do when Askavi is finally free, but he plots and fights and raids tirelessly in pursuit of that goal.
