    Appearance:
There is nothing disarming about Emile. No carefully practiced smiles or grace. He is all the violence of an undercurrent. Easy to miss, but ready to suck you down into the cold pits of Hell at a moments notice. Young muscle honed by the same sea that feeds its strength. Sharp curves and deep valleys. Body a sea wall that protects on one side and destroys on the other.

He is handsome. Face well balanced between brooding and sensual. Full lips and expressive eyes that glint the color of fresh kelp. Dress simple and gestures direct. He always looks like he knows exactly where he is going. Even when he does not.

    The Mind

    Skin Switcher
    Telekinetic Manipulation
    Physical Enhancement
    Swift Shifter
    Physical Shields
    Craft Weaknesses: Psychic Craft

    Personality:
Emile has never blended into societal norms the way his brother manages to do. Ironically considered the strange one of the two takes the raw emotion of his caste to extreme lengths. All of his decisions are based on what seems best in the moment. Best for those he considers his to protect, and best for himself. When that aligns with helping others, he is pleased. But he does not feel beholden to any figures of authority or law. By nature or youth or mix of the two he is rarely given to considering the future or big picture. For that he trusts in his brother's opinions and cleverness.

Because Emile is not a very clever man himself. A hunter, with a mind for traps, and a diver with skill in fishing up the riches of the sea. Just not a scheming man. Too prone to following his own urges and desires to plot out achieving those that are not simply gained. Which suits him fine, since his are simple needs. He also assumes that all people should be pleased with having the same simple needs met. And he imposes such on the women he 'collects' for the Rookery harem he shares with Aramis.

Outwardly he comes off as subtly weird. Too attentive. Too interested in the stories others tell. Too passionate in his dealings and interactions. Temper just as strong as his possessiveness. As likely to kill a man for hurting a woman as he is to force her to his home to be kept where she is now safe. However it only takes a little attention to see he's much more enigmatic than first impressions imply. Emile is built up of walls. Walls that protect, walls that contain, walls that hide the soft spots in his nature that are easy to manipulate. Family have a great advantage in such matters. Always a bit of a wild card, he can be controlled by the leash of protective instinct. Tell him what is best, what is being done for their own good, and there is little he would do or not do to see it through. He is a honed tool when you know how to use him. Staunch as a seawall. Defending what lay at his back and smashing the waves of the world on the other. Those under his care belong to him without question- which may be alarming at first but he is also capable of a deep and unconditional affection. Some might call his wives captives, but he disagrees. Emile thinks himself quite good at recognizing the capabilities of others. Good at reading people. He will come and fetch you home a thousand times if he must but he will not stop you from leaving in the first place if he believes you're able to care for yourself out there on the short term.

    The Backstory

    Family:
    • Name | Mother | White to Rose Caste
    • Name | Father | Yellow to Summer-sky Caste
    • Name | Sister | White to Tiger Eye Caste
    • Aramis Dupuis | Brother | Purple Dusk to Green Caste
      • Pella | wife | Summer-sky to Opal Priestess
      • Name | wife | Yellow to Rose Caste
      • Nora | wife | Tiger Eye birthright witch

    History:
An escaped slave, the mother of the Dupius never told them her name beyond 'Momma'. She was a woman stolen from the mainland. A leg maimed in the raid which saw her brought to Paon making it impossible for her to swim the lengths that returning home would require. So she hid. Circling the shoreline of the three large islands to search out a place to dig in and survive. An act she took to with a vengeance. Food hunted when she was well enough. Or bought with her body when she was not. Three children sired by such trade. A span of some decades between each. Always desperate when the fishing was not easy, and more desperate with each new mouth to feed.

The oldest was a daughter. Then came a son. Another completing the set. Emile would not remember her, too much an infant still when she was claimed by the chronic infection of badly set bones that had never quite healed. He did not remember either, what she did to dispose of their expectant fathers. Their older siblings did, however, and she was used in the same way. As the oldest their care was in their sister's hands. She preached Aramis through his first shift. Then died when Emile was still a small boy. Less successful in birthing children than their mother had been.

Emile doesn't remember what happened to the baby either. And he would rather not know. There are a lot of things about his brother he never questions.

Aramis kept Emile alive, but in the pool of a secluded lagoon they were mostly feral. Dragged up the steps of a temple to receive his Opal- bloody as his soul- Emile waited for the day he could be the sleek hunter his brother's seal form was decidedly not. They fought, and bullied one another until they saw no real pecking order could be established. They were equals. Even after Emile became a young man, keen to hold his Offering, that tentative peace has held strong. As long as Aramis skirts the carefully formed boundaries of his younger brother, they never butt heads. And when they do, Emile is easy to divert and manipulate with the safety of those they have brought into their fold. Ever watchful for the Aycayia that torment their coasts.

Which was how he came about the first of their women. Before he was old enough to even know what to do with one. Their unnatural storm swept against the coast. He followed the storm to hunt, because it dragged the fish from the shore when the water churned. Blood in the water drew Emile in, however. Where he saw her as she tried to flee into the sea. Pella, out to save people already doomed. Spotting their likeness as she shifted Emile captured her before she could fall into their trap and brought her home. Where she is safe. Protected. Provided for. Rarely touched when she is unwilling, or abandoned for her vicious insults on his nature. More have been brought home in the time since. Sometimes happily, sometimes kicking and screaming. The brothers don't mind either way. And while they share in their care and service, they respect that there are favorites among the harem.

Emile became a raider in his twenty eighth year and still goes on occasion. But he provides for his family mostly through the inherited skills of his race. Fishing, and diving deep into the waters of Paon to pull up her pearls. While none know the secret of how he stays under for so long or reaches so deep, they pay whole price for the riches he produces. At least, he assumes its full price. The bookkeeping is Aramis' job.
