Enele

The Basics

Full Name: Enele
Age: 70
Gender/Pronouns: Male He/Him

Ethnicity: An Corithe
Birthplace: Deep within Nharkava
Current Location: Glacia
Profession: Mercenary

Caste: Warlord Prince
Birthright Jewel: Rose (CUT 60)
Offering Jewel: Opal (CUT 14)

Face Claim: Wentworth Miller

The Body

Height: 6’1
Body Type: Athletic
Hair Color: Dark brown with flecks of premature grey
Eye Color: Amber with hints of blue in the center

Appearance:
A man in peak physical condition, Enele has clearly reached the beginning of his prime and grown comfortable with the capabilities and limitations of his body. Due to the arduous nature of his chosen profession he has several scars and tattoos, none of which are visible through the long sleeves and trousers he always wears. Neutral colors help to mute the obvious predatory edge that lingers over him due to his caste.

Despite the evident danger of his nature Enele is what most would consider handsome. His features are well defined without being overly sharp. He has bright eyes and an expressive mouth. Unfortunately they seem to rest in a perpetual mien of mild annoyance. Must be a warlord prince thing.

When the nights are dark and the moon bright Enele takes his second form. Sleek, fur in matte tones of earthy browns. Darker markers and mane with a lighter under belly and chest. Muzzle narrow. Nose black and eyes piercing yellow. Built for ambushing prey, using surprise and blunt force rather than speed.

The Mind

Craft Strengths: 15pt + 3 shifter pts + 3pts = 20pts

Witchfire
Psychic Shields
Physical Shields
Power Blast
Swift Shifter
Edge Walker
Craft Weaknesses: Enele was poorly educated in craft so much of what he knows is self-taught and not done in typical fashion. His psychic craft is below average, anything more than intermediate level is too complex for him to perform. He also fails abysmally at any and all hearth craft.

Personality:
When you’re facing dangerous circumstances your ideal choice should be someone capable of rivaling the hostile intentions of those that might wish to harm you. A warlord prince with a full mastery of his opal strength Enele is everything you would expect of his caste- without the cute and fuzzies of a female to hold the leash. Like all men in his caste he is ruled by primal urges from time to time. Luckily he gets paid for his frequent need to stalk the Killing Fields.

On first impression Enele can be a hard pill to swallow. He refuses to dull, conceal, or repress the intensity of his emotions- or caste- for anyone. Raising the hackles on other males has become so second nature that he doesn’t even bother killing most of them half the time. Sometimes it even amuses him a bit. Once that first dose goes down, and you settle into the almost overwhelming presence he can actually be charming. For the most part this is all a part of the package you pay for. Being persuasive and assertive are also part of the deal, just not traits most of his clients live to appreciate. Not that Enele actually cares. His interest is generally no deeper than paper is thick.

No, his passion only heats up when the rut hits or he can indulge his thirst for risk-taking. Absolutely fearless, even in the face of impossible adversaries he is the madman willing to embrace any and every crazy idea to get the job done. Despite his skewed decision making skills he thinks pretty quickly on his feet, relying on instinct more than intellect. So far it has served him well. Experience has made him comfortable taking chances, willing to consider radical possibilities. So comfortable, in fact, that he has a persistent immunity to stress.

Marks are the usual motivation behind ninety percent of his actions, however Enele can be surprisingly loyal. There isn’t much more than can be said on the subject, though, as that loyalty strikes seemingly of its own accord. Even he doesn’t know when, why, or to whom it will fall on. But when it does he never fights the impulse.

The Backstory

Family:
  • Hoapili | Father | Tiger-eye Descent Prince (deceased)
  • Malana | Mother | Non-jeweled witch (deceased)
  • Kiri | Sister | Summer-sky to Green Healer
  • Tama | Nephew | Tiger-eye to Purple Dusk Healer Prince

History:

It is the nature of packs to be territorial. Select few are allowed to trapse between them without consequence. Warlord princes on business, healers, some priestesses, and traveling traders are part of that few. Hoapili was the latter. During Witch’s reign his business flourished. Most competitors too afraid to travel during such sordid times, especially with the borders closed. When a serious blight nearly crippled the Waoud pack’s food supply Hoapili took the opportunity to secure a trade he had long desired. Debt forgiveness for a baker in exchange for a wife. Her name was Manala, she was almost eighteen.

Ten months after their wedding ceremony a daughter, Kiri, was born. She was healthy but not the son Hoapili wanted. In retaliation he would ignore her for most of her life. Their next child would get the gender right but disappoint in so many other ways. First by calling paternity in to question.

On a clear spring evening on the border of Little Terreille Hoapili stopped his small caravan for the night. When darkness fell bandits raided his goods. Assuming they intended to slaughter them all Hoapili offered up Manala and Kiri as tribute to spare himself. By the mercy of Mother Night the leader of the bandits took a gentle pleasure in Manala’s company then returned mother and child to the Waoud pack. When Hoapili made it back he took custody of his small family once again. That winter, Enele was born.

From the moment of his first breath Enele was clearly different. An early quiet infant that seemed to already stalk with his eyes. Now that he had the son he so longed for Hoapili felt that the traveling was too dangerous for his children. He built a hut in the village and did his traveling alone. Leaving his family to lead a pleasant life- at least until father came home.

The summer that she turned ten Kiri was taken to perform her Birthright Ceremony. Much to her father’s pride she walked away with a Summer-Sky jewel. Excited at witnessing this new experience Enele eagerly asked when he would get his own. His father told him plainly that he likely would not be allowed. Discouraged the boy complained to anyone who would listen. And listened when he shouldn’t have. The village gossip shined a little light on the situation: Enele was likely not Hoapili’s son and fears that his real father might turn up to claim paternity made the man hesitant to rush him to his Birthright.

Delay after delay, excuse after excuse at 14 years old Enele still had not been allowed his Birthright. Basically defenseless against his father’s frequent rages the boy learned to hide since he couldn’t fight back. After a particularly bad evening he returned from a friend’s house to find his mother dead. No explanations were ever given. No justice ever dealt. Enele knew, of course, that Hoapili had murdered her. Even if he was supposed to be too young to really understand. A few nights after his mother’s death Kiri took her brother in secret to the village Priestess. He performed his Birthright in secret, walking away with the Rose hanging around his neck.

With Manala dead Hoapili delegated the traveling portion of his work to an apprentice. He stayed home for much longer stretches. With two children wielding stronger jewels the abuse stopped but he took to drinking and gambling instead. Debts piled up. Enele left home at sixteen, seeking an apprenticeship that would stay his unruly spirit. He tried hunting for two years, then studied as a warrior for a few more. Nothing stuck. Except for Nyree- the girl he nearly killed in an unintended hunting accident. His caste calling him to guard over her, even before she matured into her own completely shocking caste. Queens were unheard of among the An Corithe, and it made becoming her friend a challenge. No one wanted quarrelsome, rebellious, violent Enele around her. But Enele didn’t give a shit.

He lived his life the way he wanted to. Trying to strike a balance between his happiness and his pack’s expectations. Their opinions weighing on his heart but never bowing his shoulders. He went through everything alone. Finding comfort in his friendship with Nyree only after the suffering was done. A first transformation, dismissal from another apprenticeship, countless personal rejections. Nyree was the one constant. A sweet spot he could lean against without having to spill his heart. She comforted without needing to know why he needed a friend. There for him up until she was not. Gone when he needed her most. Gone to serve in a court with people that could never hope to understand her nature. Leaving him with no one to turn to when he faced the hardest moment of his young life. By absolute chance he returned home late in his adolescence to find his father holding an auction; selling Kiri’s Virgin Night to the highest bidder as if she were one of his trade goods. Even with just his Birthright jewel Enele was a dangerous adversary at the mercy of instincts he had no control over. This marked the first incident in which those primal urges were finally satisfied. Ten men were slaughtered there in the clearing where the auction was held. Hoapilli saved for last. With his father’s estate to settle for an excuse he visited Nyree, with the intent of bringing her home. She made the choice to stay. After that Enele needed something substantial to occupy his time. He left Nharkava and fell in with a small group of mercenaries from various territories. With a bit of training to work on skills he had previously learned he became the perfect soldier for hire.

Years later he parted ways with the group he had been working under. Striking out on his own for a while, then Kiri’s man died. They had not spoken in years, not since shortly after he had murdered her father. An unexpected rut breaking his trust in his sister after she used her jewel to confine him instead of letting him find relief. He didn’t understand then, how dangerous he was in that state. But the old hurt was forgiven in her time of need. He brought them into his fold, a trustworthy healer was hard to come by, after all. Then they were joined by a black widow and a warlord that came and went when the job was a big one. For the right price Enele would kill or protect just about anyone in either realm- though he preferred to stay in Kaeleer. Nyree eventually returned, but their friendship had shifted. Her womanhood and his heart sores making things strained for Enele.

She made a house in his backyard, and Enele worked more than ever, but it would be decades before they found a comfortable balance again. A balance that quickly tipped her over into his arms. Romance fierce but brief before old ghosts split them apart again. Heart broken Enele took work in Little Terreille. Work he could do alone because that was still his prefered way to suffer. But he couldn’t stop worrying about Nyree and eventually it spilled over putting her in grave danger. A light was shone on the workings of the cult murdering queens in Little Terreille. The cost was their connection to the pack. To keep Nyree safe Enele had to move her, thankfully she was willing to give him a second chance. So they’ve tucked away in Glacia to build a new life.
